Arsenal threw away a 2-0 lead through defensive mistakes at Watford as Quique Sanchez Flores’ side got a 2-2 draw.
A normally expert finish from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’d Arsenal forward (21) despite Watford’s calls for a foul in the accumulation, and the Gabon striker made it 2-0 shortly after with an easy finish from a nice Gunners move (32).
Watford halved the deficit only following the break during Tom Cleverley as Sokratis was caught playing out from the back (53), also Arsenal shot themselves in the foot as David Luiz tripped sub Roberto Pereyra at the region, and he dispatched the punishment (81).
Watford must have won it but the thrilling event finished flat while Watford stay underside but using their confidence back.
Though Arsenal looked clinical at the third in the first half of they faced 31 shots in their target, because Opta began collecting such data in the division at 43, the most they have ever faced in a Premier League fixture.
After a nice reception for coming back manager Quique, Watford in the early phases on top, went closest through Tom Cleverley’s long-range effort by Bernd Leno, as Arsenal fought to get.
But the Gunners took the lead . Watford pleaded on halfway but play continued as Sead Kolasinac fed Aubameyang, whose emphatic signature and shot beat Ben Foster. VAR Daniel Cook briefly looked, but was satisfied with the choice, unlike Watford fans.
It was 11 minutes later as Mesut Ozil, enjoying his first minutes this year cooked Ainsley Maitland-Niles in-behind the defence to the right of this box, along with his centre was for Aubameyang to turn home, easy. Though the striker took the glory, both Maitland-Niles’ run and Ozil’s area were impressive.
Having nearly been caught out playing from the trunk in the first half, Arsenal did not learn their lesson. Sokratis’ pass from six yards out following Gerard Deulofeu intercepted a Leno target kick as well as the ball dropped kindly for Cleverley. Replays showed once the goal-kick had been taken Deulofeu was at the box, however, the goal stood.
Watford had their tails up, peppering the goal of Leno from all angles, even as Arsenal brought on Lucas Torreira, Reiss Nelson along with Joe Willock in an attempt to Matteo Guendouzi, Mesut Ozil and Dani Ceballos.
Watford sub Ismaila Sarr went as he turned with his back to goal following Deulofeu’s cute pass dragging wide, however they have.
The tricky feed of Pereyra outdid the Brazilian only within the box, and it had been the Argentine himself who divides himself off to slot bottom left corner.
The roof would have raised off Vicarage Road had Deulofeu never missed the far post by inches just minutes later, or had Leno not saved from Abdoulaye Doucoure at point-blank range, but it somehow stopped level regardless of the chaos of this’you still have a move, we’ve got a go’ closing 15 minutes.
