Former all-rounder Andrew Flintoff says he would”love” to be England coach one day.
Flintoff, 41, retired in 2009 from cricket and presents BBC motoring show Top Gear.
England coach Trevor Bayliss will resign at the conclusion of this summer’s Ashes series and also his successor has not been appointed.
“Training is certainly an ambition,” Flintoff told Test Match Special.
“There are most likely three or two training jobs I’d enjoy – England, Lancashire or Lancashire Academy.
“I would like to be England coach one day, just not quite yet.”
Flintoff and 141 internationals 79 Tests and seven T20s played for both England and has been a part of Ashes winning sides in 2005 and 2009.
Flintoff had one specialist bout for a fighter prior to coming to play Twenty20 cricket for Lancashire and also Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League of Australia at 2014 after originally retiring from all types of the game in 2010.
He made his stage debut in Fat Friends and has been engaged the Musical in 23, since retiring.
Talking at day three of the fourth Ashes Test between England and Australia at Old Trafford, Flintoff said that he”never” needed to be involved in cricket broadcasting because he likes the game”too much”.
He added that he had applied before Peter Moores’ yearlong second tenure in charge for the England head coach role in 2014.
“I love to come and watch, I develop a feeling of excitement,” he said.
“A couple of years back I applied to the England coaching job – we were getting beat, I had been at work thought,’I’m going to apply’.
“I composed an email for your meeting, per month passed and I’d heard nothing. I chased up it , and I got a phone call saying they thought it was somebody.
“I’ve got two of my coaching amounts – me and [fellow former England cricketer] Steve Harmison could do our level threes shortly”
Flintoff had a starring part in the 2005 Ashes, taking 24 wickets as England beat Australia 2-1 in one of the biggest ever Test series while stirring in excess and scoring 402 runs.
But he said he”could have had to accommodate” his game to be able to compete against present international players.
He explained:”I was seeing the 2005 highlights and I don’t believe my children thought I played cricket since I saw them appearing at this obese skinhead on the display, then looking at me going,’Is that you’
“I have fond memories of this and I’m thankful it happened as it was life-changing but I’m enjoying watching the lads play – the game has proceeded.
“I am under no illusions, I’m not sure my game would endure today. The bowling may however with T20 I would have had to adapt – I couldn’t do all the fancy flicks and skilful stuff with the bat.”
