Francis-Henri Graffard has confirmed The Revenant on Track for a tilt in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
Previously trained in Britain by Hugo Palmer, Dubawis son has won eight of his 10 starts thus far – making a career-best performance when running out a impressive winner of the Group 2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein in ParisLongchamp during the weekend.
Graffard believes his bill has got a measure up into the highest level and would love examining requirements to predominate on British Champions Day.
I was very pleased with him on Saturday – we couldnt have wished for a better result, stated the French handler.
The feeling he had been giving me in the mornings was that he is still improving his jockey (Pierre-Charles Boudot) got the same feeling from the afternoon.
If the path to Ascot is smooth, then he will be there. The softer the ground the better for him.
Graffard is under no illusions about the task awaiting his bill October 19, with Saeed bin Suroors Benbatl and the Aidan OBrien-trained Circus Maximus one of his rivals.
He added:We could go to Ascot with a great deal of humility since it is a Group One race and theyre always very tough, but I think that he deserves to be there.
We understand he enjoys soft earth – we know he could swim! If the ground is soft at Ascot that might suit him better than a few of his competitors.
Graffard revealed plans are coming up in the atmosphere because of his Royal Ascot heroine Watch Me.
The Olympic Glory filly was a surprise winner of the Coronation Stakes in June, but also has demonstrated that campaign was no fluke – ending a fourth in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville in August prior to placing a close third in the Prix de lOpera.
She ran an excellent race on Sunday and shes currently return to her owners to get a rest, explained Graffard.
Theyll pick at a later date whether shell return next year or be retired. Shes definitely completed for this season.
