The wait is nearly over and the NFL season is nearly upon us!
The team’s 100th season starts on Thursday, September 5 when the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers, live on Sky Sports.
Before then, it’s time to check the contenders of 2019.
We are previewing all eight divisions, and here you can find our views on the NFC West and cast your vote who you believe will win under…
Head coach: Sean McVay
Key man: It’s crazy to think you will find question marks enclosing Todd Gurley going into the 2019 season. This is a man who tallied 21 touchdowns but also the guy the Rams left at the postseason.
Gurley had 10 of these for just 35 yards coming from the big game, only 30 carries within their Super Bowl run seemingly troubled by a knee injury, itself. Which variant of this running back will we see in 2019?
Significant additions: It has really been a quiet offseason at Los Angeles however, considering their moves in free agency 12 weeks before, their roster looks stacked.
The most prominent addition to a stellar defense is former Green Bay Packer, Clay Matthews, whilst security Eric Weddle is another decent veteran pickup in the Baltimore Ravens. They have added the Blake Bortles. Yeah….
Season: Oh. The Rams looked every bit the best team in football on their way into some league-leading 13-3 mark that they would defeat into a NFC Championship game that was thrilling. On the other hand, the Super Bowl itself revealed a damp squib, together with the explosive L.A. crime made to punt nine days along with a record-low few points.
Prospects: Not likely to be the cakewalk that last year was shown to be. They were so beaten by the New England Patriots at the summer showpiece at Atlanta signifies a few are sleeping with the Rams but training savant McVay is sure to engineer a second year.
Prediction: 1st (11-5)
Head coach: Pete Carroll
Key man: Russell Wilson. The Seahawks quarterback finally got the bargain his drama for seven seasons in Seattle deserved, but whether he’s worth an NFL-leading, four-year deal is another issue. One matter Wilson enjoys to do is establish the doubters wrong.
Major additions: Wilson has a new toy to play with at wide receiver in D.K. Metcalf, one of those much-hyped Ole Miss duo, along with A. J. Brown – who finished up using the Tennessee Titans.
Metcalf was a snip at the next round, picked at 64th overall, and may have an effect – pending his return from knee operation. He may need to, with the Doug Baldwin having retired in the offseason.
Obviously, the blockbuster addition of 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney can help Seattle come back on defense to their own days.
Last year: The 2018 year has been going to be a down year for the Seahawks, but Pete Carroll’s team scooped that the critics once again, riding a young roster in the match and to a 10-6 finish. Admittedly, the dream then ended early with a Wild Card defeat to the Dallas Cowboys, however the postseason (and possibly more) beckons once again.
Prospects: The Seahawks are only bettered a certain defending-champion New England Patriots and by Bill Belichick to their consistency over the last ten years. Seattle have failed to make the playoffs once in the last seven seasons, and even then – from 2017 – that they ended a more than respectable 9-7.
Prediction: 2nd (10-6)
Head coach: Kyle Shanahan
Key man: Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy G could don’t wrong when leading a woeful 49ers side to a 5-0 end in the 2017 year – seeing him seven wins in the first seven NFL starts.
However, with an underwhelming start to last season before an injury in Week Three ruled him out for the rest of the year, and a few ropey preseason activity since – throwing five sequential interceptions at a training session – that the strain is now truly on the 27.5-m-a-year person to deliver.
Important additions: The 49ers have desperately seemed to bolster a defense which compelled only seven turnovers in 2018! That is 10 fewer than the team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Edge rusher Dee Ford and his 13 sacks and seven forced fumbles from this past season with the Kansas City Chiefs is the person to repair their problems, as will be overall draft pick Nick Bosa. The set will lead to a few sleepless nights to get quarterbacks throughout the country.
On the offensive side, look out for Deebo Samuel, who may standout out of a thin-looking receiving corps. The San Francisco backfield looked stacked with the accession of former Atlanta Falcon Tevin Coleman in RB, but a second season-ending accident in 2 decades for Jerick McKinnon places a dampener on things.
Year: the year finished as soon as Garoppolo was dropped to some rather innocuous-looking sprint down the sideline of San Francisco. A mini Nick Mullens-led revival ultimately brought short of their double digits, but well four wins which many had tipped them for preseason.
Prospects: A sub .500 record is going to be considered a disappointment by many, particularly thinking about San Francisco have added some pieces that are fascinating to some unit tipped by horses season. But the 49ers have yet to convince until they do this, this is a middling NFL staff at best , they can compete with the big boys.
Prediction: 3rd (7-9)
Head coach: Kliff Kingsbury
Key man: There can be no doubt concerning it; the No 1 selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, Kyler Murray. The dual-threat appeared isn’t merely the crucial man because of his undoubted talent – past season’s Heisman Trophy in school – but also since the Cardinals needed him so much that they were eager to take their first-round-drafted QB from just 12 months prior, the now-Miami Dolphin, Josh Rosen.
Significant improvements: Murray was the haul of 11 draft selections for Arizona. Fourth-round broad receiver pick-up Hakeem Butler, from Iowa State, appeared a steal, just to get a broken hand in preseason to put his rookie season in peril.
Of their work at no agency, the arrival of Baltimore Ravens stalwart Terrell Suggs has been the greatest surprise, together with all the linebacker coming on a thing. Cornerback Robert Alford, by end Charles Clay and the Atlanta Falcons are other additions.
Season: An NFL-worst 3-13 complete. The Cardinals, in their first year since 2012 without the hugely powerful Bruce Arians at the helm, were anticipating 2018 for a year, although nowhere near as devastating as it demonstrated. So much so it cost rookie head coach, also scapegoat, Steve Wilks his job.
Prospects: They will be improved. Not by much, but Murray’s presence alone – paired with utilization of 2016 first-team – will be very likely to propel the Cardinals to at least a couple more wins.
Prediction: 4th (5-11)
