NFC West preview: Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks

The wait is nearly over and the NFL season is nearly upon us!
The team’s 100th season starts on Thursday, September 5 when the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers, live on Sky Sports.
Before then, it’s time to check the contenders of 2019.
We are previewing all eight divisions, and here you can find our views on the NFC West and cast your vote who you believe will win under…
Head coach: Sean McVay
Key man: It’s crazy to think you will find question marks enclosing Todd Gurley going into the 2019 season. This is a man who tallied 21 touchdowns but also the guy the Rams left at the postseason.
Gurley had 10 of these for just 35 yards coming from the big game, only 30 carries within their Super Bowl run seemingly troubled by a knee injury, itself. Which variant of this running back will we see in 2019?
Significant additions: It has really been a quiet offseason at Los Angeles however, considering their moves in free agency 12 weeks before, their roster looks stacked.
The most prominent addition to a stellar defense is former Green Bay Packer, Clay Matthews, whilst security Eric Weddle is another decent veteran pickup in the Baltimore Ravens. They have added the Blake Bortles. Yeah….
Season: Oh. The Rams looked every bit the best team in football on their way into some league-leading 13-3 mark that they would defeat into a NFC Championship game that was thrilling. On the other hand, the Super Bowl itself revealed a damp squib, together with the explosive L.A. crime made to punt nine days along with a record-low few points.
Prospects: Not likely to be the cakewalk that last year was shown to be. They were so beaten by the New England Patriots at the summer showpiece at Atlanta signifies a few are sleeping with the Rams but training savant McVay is sure to engineer a second year.
Prediction: 1st (11-5)
Head coach: Pete Carroll
Key man: Russell Wilson. The Seahawks quarterback finally got the bargain his drama for seven seasons in Seattle deserved, but whether he’s worth an NFL-leading, four-year deal is another issue. One matter Wilson enjoys to do is establish the doubters wrong.
Major additions: Wilson has a new toy to play with at wide receiver in D.K. Metcalf, one of those much-hyped Ole Miss duo, along with A. J. Brown – who finished up using the Tennessee Titans.
Metcalf was a snip at the next round, picked at 64th overall, and may have an effect – pending his return from knee operation. He may need to, with the Doug Baldwin having retired in the offseason.
Obviously, the blockbuster addition of 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney can help Seattle come back on defense to their own days.
Last year: The 2018 year has been going to be a down year for the Seahawks, but Pete Carroll’s team scooped that the critics once again, riding a young roster in the match and to a 10-6 finish. Admittedly, the dream then ended early with a Wild Card defeat to the Dallas Cowboys, however the postseason (and possibly more) beckons once again.
Prospects: The Seahawks are only bettered a certain defending-champion New England Patriots and by Bill Belichick to their consistency over the last ten years. Seattle have failed to make the playoffs once in the last seven seasons, and even then – from 2017 – that they ended a more than respectable 9-7.
Prediction: 2nd (10-6)
Head coach: Kyle Shanahan
Key man: Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy G could don’t wrong when leading a woeful 49ers side to a 5-0 end in the 2017 year – seeing him seven wins in the first seven NFL starts.
However, with an underwhelming start to last season before an injury in Week Three ruled him out for the rest of the year, and a few ropey preseason activity since – throwing five sequential interceptions at a training session – that the strain is now truly on the 27.5-m-a-year person to deliver.
Important additions: The 49ers have desperately seemed to bolster a defense which compelled only seven turnovers in 2018! That is 10 fewer than the team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Edge rusher Dee Ford and his 13 sacks and seven forced fumbles from this past season with the Kansas City Chiefs is the person to repair their problems, as will be overall draft pick Nick Bosa. The set will lead to a few sleepless nights to get quarterbacks throughout the country.
On the offensive side, look out for Deebo Samuel, who may standout out of a thin-looking receiving corps. The San Francisco backfield looked stacked with the accession of former Atlanta Falcon Tevin Coleman in RB, but a second season-ending accident in 2 decades for Jerick McKinnon places a dampener on things.
Year: the year finished as soon as Garoppolo was dropped to some rather innocuous-looking sprint down the sideline of San Francisco. A mini Nick Mullens-led revival ultimately brought short of their double digits, but well four wins which many had tipped them for preseason.
Prospects: A sub .500 record is going to be considered a disappointment by many, particularly thinking about San Francisco have added some pieces that are fascinating to some unit tipped by horses season. But the 49ers have yet to convince until they do this, this is a middling NFL staff at best , they can compete with the big boys.
Prediction: 3rd (7-9)
Head coach: Kliff Kingsbury
Key man: There can be no doubt concerning it; the No 1 selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, Kyler Murray. The dual-threat appeared isn’t merely the crucial man because of his undoubted talent – past season’s Heisman Trophy in school – but also since the Cardinals needed him so much that they were eager to take their first-round-drafted QB from just 12 months prior, the now-Miami Dolphin, Josh Rosen.
Significant improvements: Murray was the haul of 11 draft selections for Arizona. Fourth-round broad receiver pick-up Hakeem Butler, from Iowa State, appeared a steal, just to get a broken hand in preseason to put his rookie season in peril.
Of their work at no agency, the arrival of Baltimore Ravens stalwart Terrell Suggs has been the greatest surprise, together with all the linebacker coming on a thing. Cornerback Robert Alford, by end Charles Clay and the Atlanta Falcons are other additions.
Season: An NFL-worst 3-13 complete. The Cardinals, in their first year since 2012 without the hugely powerful Bruce Arians at the helm, were anticipating 2018 for a year, although nowhere near as devastating as it demonstrated. So much so it cost rookie head coach, also scapegoat, Steve Wilks his job.
Prospects: They will be improved. Not by much, but Murray’s presence alone – paired with utilization of 2016 first-team – will be very likely to propel the Cardinals to at least a couple more wins.
Prediction: 4th (5-11)

We are previewing all eight divisions, and here you can find our perspectives on the NFC West and cast your vote who you think will win beneath…
Head coach: Sean McVay
Key man: It is crazy to believe there are question marks surrounding Todd Gurley going into the 2019 season. That is a man who tallied 21 touchdowns but in addition.
Had 10 of those for only 35 yards coming from the game, only 30 carries over their Super Bowl run itself troubled by a knee injury. Which variant of this back will we all see in 2019?
Significant improvements: It has really been a quiet offseason at Los Angeles however, considering their competitive moves in free agency 12 weeks ago, their roster seems piled.
The addition to a stellar defense is former Green Bay Packer while security Eric Weddle is just another veteran pickup in the Baltimore Ravens. Moreover, they have added the Blake Bortles. Yeah….
Last season: Oh so close. The Rams appeared every bit the best team in football in their way into a league-leading 13-3 mark that they would defeat in a NFC Championship game that was thrilling. However, that the Super Bowl itself revealed a damp squib, together with the volatile L.A. crime forced to punt nine days along with a record-low three points.
Prospects: Not likely to be the cakewalk that year was shown to be. That the New England Patriots convincingly beat them in the summer showpiece at Atlanta signifies a few are sleeping about the Rams at 2019, but coaching savant McVay is sure to engineer a second successful year.
Prediction: 1st (11-5)
Head coach: Pete Carroll
Key man: Russell Wilson. The Seahawks quarterback got the big-money bargain his superb drama for seven seasons in Seattle so deserved, but whether he’s well worth a NFL-leading, four-year, $140m bargain is another matter. One matter Wilson likes to do however, is establish the doubters wrong.
Big improvements: Wilson has a new toy to play at wide receiver in D.K. Metcalf, among the much-hyped Ole Miss duo, along with A. J. Brown – who ended up with the Tennessee Titans.
Metcalf had been a snip in the next round, chose 64th complete, and might have a direct effect – his return from knee surgery. With the Doug Baldwin having retired from the offseason, he may need to.
Obviously, 2014 No 1’s blockbuster addition overall choice Seattle return could be helped by Jadeveon Clowney to their days on defense.
Last season: The 2018 season has been expected to be a down year for the Seahawks, but Pete Carroll’s team dumbfounded the critics once again, riding a youthful roster in the playoffs and to a 10-6 finish. Ironically, the fantasy then ended early with a Wild Card defeat on the Dallas Cowboys, but also the postseason (and possibly more) beckons once again.
Prospects: The Seahawks are arguably just bettered a New England Patriots plus by Bill Belichick for their consistency over the previous ten years. Seattle have failed to make the playoffs in the last seven months, and even – in 2017 – a was ended by them.
Prediction: 2nd (10-6)
Head coach: Kyle Shanahan
Key person: Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy G may don’t wrong when leading a 49ers facet to a 5-0 end at the 2017 year – viewing him seven wins in the first seven NFL starts.
However, with an underwhelming start to last season before an injury in Week Three ruled him out for the remainder of the calendar year, and a few ropey preseason action since – throwing five sequential interceptions at a practice session – the pressure is now actually on the 27.5-m-a-year man to deliver.
Additions: The 49ers have looked to bolster a defense that forced seven turnovers in 2018! That is 10 fewer than the team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Edge rusher Dee Ford and his 13 sacks and seven forced fumbles with the Kansas City Chiefs from this past year will be the person since is overall draft pick Nick Bosa. The set will cause a few sleepless nights to get quarterbacks across the country.
Watch out who could standout out of a receiving corps that is thin-looking. The San Francisco backfield looked stacked at RB, but a 2nd season-ending harm in just 2 years for Jerick McKinnon places a dampener on things.
Year: San Francisco’s season ended when Garoppolo was dropped to a rather innocuous-looking sprint down the sideline. A miniature Nick Mullens-led revival finally brought short of their double digits, but well four wins which they had been tipped by most to get preseason.
Prospects: A sub .500 record is going to be regarded as a disappointment by many, especially thinking about San Francisco have added some pieces to some device tipped by horses last season. But the 49ers have yet to convince until they do this, this is a middling NFL team at best and, they can really compete with the big boys.
Prediction: 3rd (7-9)
Head trainer: Kliff Kingsbury
Key man: ” There could be no doubt concerning itthe No 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Kyler Murray. The dual-threat appeared is not merely the essential man because of his undoubted ability – past season’s Heisman Trophy in college – but also because the Cardinals wanted him so much that they were willing to take their first-round-drafted QB from just 12 months prior, the now-Miami Dolphin, Josh Rosen.
Additions: Murray was the haul of 11 draft picks for Arizona. Recipient pick-up Hakeem Butler, from Iowa State, seemed a steal, only to get a hand at preseason to place in peril.
Of their job in agency, the arrival of Baltimore Ravens stalwart Terrell Suggs was the biggest surprise, with the 36-year-old linebacker coming on a deal. Cornerback Robert Alford, from tight end Charles Clay and the Atlanta Falcons are noteworthy additions.
Last season: A NFL-worst 3-13 complete. The Cardinals, in their first year since 2012 without the Bruce Arians at the helm, always expected 2018 to be a down year, but nowhere near as devastating as it demonstrated. So far so it cost scapegoat, and rookie head coach, Steve Wilks his job.
Prospects: They’ll be improved. Not by far, but Murray’s existence alone – paired with better utilization of 2016 first-team All-Pro running back David Johnson – is likely to propel the Cardinals.
Prediction: 4th (5-11)

James Wade continues World Grand Prix campaign chasing another title

James Wade effectively cared for business on Sunday night at the Citywest Hotel to pick up his first World Grand Prix win since 2014, although there were some moments.
The Machine is look ahead to his tie from Mervyn King with real optimism, since he chases a PDC title, and a third in Dublin.
Its been a while, I forgot the way to win here I presume, he told The Darts Show Podcast.
Its good. Its a win, and I can move onto the next one today. It is nice to find that one under the belt
After a dip in form in the last couple of years, Wade has enjoyed a spike in fortunes in the previous 12 months, also believes he is currently getting back to where he belongs.
He claimed victories at the European Championship and World Series of Darts Finals to end this past year on a high – and things have lasted along with five Pro Tour titles this season – .
Unfortunately I have gone through a genuine bad part of my career for the last three or four years, he explained.
It is [down to] myself not putting sufficient effort in, and not wanting to be there. You have a couple of years of not placing enough in and not wanting to be there, and most of those mixed up without performing well, it attracts drawbacks.
Now theres not that numerous downsides there and there is a lot more advantages.
Growing becomes a habit, and losing becomes a habit. I have been doing just a small bit of this winning and not a lot of this losing.
The Grand Prix brings its own challenges for gamers, most notably thedouble-in arrangement, but its also one of just two tournaments in which set-play is employed, instead of match-play.
Wade found himself degree at one set apiece against Henderson, despite winning legs up to that point, and he feels directly match-play provides atrue reflection of ability.
I have always preferred match-play as opposed to places, he added.
With sets, you can win more legs but lose a game. I have never understood that.
I dont think a whole lot of the period [set-play] is a legitimate reflection. It gives people something to hide behind. Individuals can hide behind not even playing well and manage to nick a game in places. It is a game Sometime in match-play. You win if you get to 10. You shed if you dont.
It is as straightforward as that.
The company end of the darting year is well and truly upon uswith the Grand Prix and Grand Slam one of the competitions leading intothe granddaddy of them all in the Ally Pally in less than 10 months period.
Wade retains the television events in higher esteem Even though the rest of the calendar keeps players on their feet with the hectic schedule.
It has two completely different games. Floors tournaments and European Tours, its not the same as that which I call a suitable TV championship, he said.
Its not even near. Youre able to play not well and nicely in one in the other. I simply think that its entirely different. Some folks can play really nicely on the ground, but if they get on the stage, not so well. I really dont think the two are similar.
The left-hander knows he has to pick and choose tournaments to sit out, and is in awe of the endurance of some of the peers.
He added:There are some players who I can not think still do each of the tournaments. The likes of Peter Wright and Daryl Gurney. They hardcore. They go to everything! I dont know how they do this !
However, for most players, its about peaking at the tournaments, as well as the 36-year-old is confident hes currently doing that at Dublin.
Next up is a meeting with King. Now he has tasted victory, and wade is back to winning ways in the venue, hes not likely to need to wait another five years to get his second one.
It should be helpful. It needs to be interesting, he said of his interview with King.
Hopefully its interesting and that I win.
Coverage of the World Grand Prix continues on Tuesday night from 7pm on Main Event & Sky Sports Action and runs during the week up until Saturdays closing from the Citywest Hotel

MINNESOTA TWINS

Team Strengths: Even with All the struggles of Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton, the Twins finished 13th in the majors in runs scored last year.

Eddie Rosario, Max Kepler and Jake Cave headed an underrated outfield, while Jorge Polanco continued to grow into a solid-hitting shortstop. The Twins added Nelson Cruz, C.J. Cron and Jonathan Schoop in free agency, fixing a righthanded power shortage, as well as flexible utilityman Marwin Gonzalez.
Team Weaknesses: The Twins drafted and signed 21 pitchers in the top few rounds from 2008-15 and have just two starters to show for it. While Jose Berrios and Kyle Gibson are principles in the turning, the struggles to come up with further depth has abandoned the Twins brief of arms and contributed to a 4.50 ERA last season, 22nd at the majors.
What They Were About ItThe Twins largely stayed to tackle their throwing shortage. Fernando Romero, Stephen Gonsalves and Kohl Stewart made the debuts last year and have a opportunity to play larger roles this year. As he recovered from Tommy John surgery, michael Pineda, who signed last year, will make his Twins introduction this season too.
Last Outlook: Added greater pitching thickness and power have the Twins in better position to compete than a year ago. Whether Sano and Buxton can find their 2017 kind will go a long way toward determining if they struggle the Indians.
