The contrast between the two Ferrari drivers after the Grand Prix couldn’t have been more extreme.
Charles Leclerc stood on the podium for a winner for a second time per week, soaking up the adoration of thousands of tifosi observing the Ferrari triumph in Italy.
Down at the paddock, the four-time world champion who began the season as the team motorist, Sebastian Vettel, faced the media, compelled to discuss the most up-to-date in a long lineup of mistakes that return to June 2018.
This is the ninth important error in 27 races because last year’s French Grand Prix of Vettel. He’s been keeping up a success rate of one if he is perplexed and bemused by what is happening and every 3 events, he is far from the only one.

He had no excuse.
“Clearly I’m not happy with it,” he explained. “I dropped the rear and couldn’t grab it.
“I fought a couple of times to get the car going. A few times I got the anti-stall and I fought to get in the perfect direction too so that I couldn’t watch him. It was impossible to see the cars on the left. I was stuck also a little onto the kerb so that didn’t help.”
He was thinking that the speediest cars could have assembled a gap and he might have path. However, it was still early in the raceand the difference was not likely to be big.
On its surface, this appears to have inserted into a routine that appears familiar with Vettel’s mistakes recently. In moments that are tense, a type of crimson mist seems to descend which reduces his capacity for thinking.
The thing is the mistakes keep occurring. Vettel was likely to move away for the winter and consider how to prevent it occurring this past year, after building a series. But they’ve lasted into 2019.
Vettel explained he had not been affected by the controversy and that he hadn’t lost any respect for F1.
“Nonot really, I haven’t,” he said. “I still love what I do but when you’re not performing well when you know that you can do this, you can’t be pleased.”
Mercedes team manager Toto Wolff advised against criticising Vettel much.
“Today isn’t a good race for him,” Wolff said. “He had a spell of poor races. I’m just saying do not write him off since he is a four-time world winner and the gap between the ones that are great and the ones is that the excellent ones can get up again. I don’t have any doubt that he can do that.”
Hamilton said something after the last Vettel mistake. Problem is there is not a great deal of evidence to indicate they’re correct.
It could not have come at a worse moment for Vettel. As this season has been come on progressively strongly by Leclerc, discussion about the consequences for Vettel has lasted.
Monza has been the race in a row at which Leclerc’d out-qualified Vettel. There were extenuating circumstances that time – Vettel didn’t possess a slipstream in his lap to qualifying prevented him doing a different, and the farcical finish – but a very clear pattern is emerging.
Vettel is still to get off the mark and two races have been won by Leclerc. Looking at the remaining races – the tracks and also the routine of Ferrari’s form – it is far from sure he will find another chance.

“There’s some hazardous driving going on,” Hamilton said above the radio. The stewards did nothing.
Leclerc admitted that he was challenging, but stated:”I only tried to be at the limit of what’s acceptable.
“I understood he was on the right. He braked because he didn’t want to test the outside around. I thought I’d left a vehicle’s diameter ”
His strategy was informed by the simple fact that Verstappen got away with barging him and on the Ferrari broad when he handed for success over the lap at Austria a month or two ago.
“Since Austria it is clear we could go a bit further from the way we can defend and overtaking from the bitterness,” Leclerc said. “Austria assisted me change that strategy. This was thanks to the I was able to triumph. It was very on the limitation but I am pleased to race such as this.”
Hamilton sounded convinced.
“It was fascinating,” Hamilton stated. “I learnt a great deal about his character now for a driver as you do when you’re racing with various drivers and I’ll know better for next time.
“There were a few surprises – the ones that you saw. Nevertheless, it is simply all understanding for the future.
“We have only always asked for consequences. A principle was and todayn’t abided it and they utilized different impacts for its rule. I don’t really understand why that’s the circumstance. It is motor racing and I figure that the stewards awakened on the different side of the bed.
“In case Verstappen ought to have that last year, then the identical rule should apply.”
The relationship between Hamilton and Leclerc has been respectful and warm, and the elderly guy said there was no reason for it to change.
